Investing in new window installation is an excellent way to add value to your home, increase energy efficiency, and enjoy a more beautiful view. However, as you get ready for your installation day, there are a few things that you can do to prepare. Here are some of our best tips for new window installation.

Make Access Easier

We can work in a broad variety of conditions, but it is easiest to get right to work when everything around the windows is clear. Things like rugs, plants, furniture, and artwork directly next to the windows should be removed. This minimizes the chances of damage and makes it easy to get your windows in and out without issue. Additionally, before your new window installation, you should remove any exterior decorations that are near the windows. This makes sure that we can easily access the outside of your home with a ladder as necessary.

Take Off Window Treatments

Do you currently have blinds, sheers, or curtains on your windows? It is a good idea to proactively remove these things before your new window installation. In some cases, this is not necessary, but you should take care of it in advance if you want to make sure that there is no damage done to any of the curtains. Once the quick installation process is over, you’ll be able to put them back in front of your brand-new windows.

Grab a Sheet or Blanket

There is no need to remove pieces of furniture like couches or tables that are in the same room as the windows, providing that they are not preventing an easy path to and from the window. However, you might want to throw a bedsheet or blanket over these items. Swapping out windows can be a dusty process, particularly if yours have been there for a long time, and this will stop dust from accumulating on your upholstery. You can also place drop cloths or cloths on the ground if you have new flooring or are concerned about dust potentially getting on your hardwood or carpet.
